NASAB - Game for blind people
A downloadable test game for Windows and macOS
The game consists of a 3d environment which blind people can explore and play. The project aims to create in Unreal Engine a consistent way to enhance accessibility in 3d games. Nasab stands for "Navigational Audio Scanner in Accessibility for Blinds".
The audio scanner searches for the correct path and notifies the player where it is in the room. To activate it, press the R and move the mouse to turn your perspective. The system will load a loop sound to represent a working machine that is scanning the environment and it will stop as soon as the correct door is found. When that happens, the notification clicks will give you information about how big the room is and how far is the exit door. If you are fully sighted, you should play it blindfolded.
This is the first prototype I made and I'm developing other systems that help these people to play Fps games on their own. Next improvements are: "Audio Focus on Perspective, Aim & shoot system, Collectibles Location, Platforms identification and blind devices compatibility such as JAWS text to speech and Braille readers.
If you want to try, the game is completely free and I'm happy to receive feedback to improve it!
